This is the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting journey. The fact that wearing my hair chemical-free is a "journey" is absurd, but it is sadly true. I have learned and been so inspired by so many other sisters' hair photos & albums, that I felt compelled to publish mine as well.

Collabo or No-Go

Is it just me, or does Keri Hilson need more people? No, like for real, on every track, she needs more people. I just don't think she could carry a track alone. Don't get me wrong, her new joint, "Knock You Down" is my jam, but without Ne-Yo and Kanye? Yawn. And I'm a fan of "Turnin Me On," but it's the part of Weezy F. Baby (please say the Baby) that I actually remember and recite.

Other artists who need more people? The Dream, Jamie Foxx, and Kelly Rowland. Who else?

New Neighbors, New Noises

So I just bought a condo, and let me say, except for a few minor issues, I love it. However, I have lived in single family housing for about 7 years, so it's a bit of an adjustment living attached to neighbors again. I'm pretty tolerant, though, so I think it'll be okay.

I have a downstairs unit, and I'm finding that I'm going to become intimately knowledgeable about my upstairs neighbor. I now know his morning shower/music routine. I know that he likes to occasionally take phone calls on his balcony. And the other night, I learned more than I bargained for. Things that made me make amused, surprised, and slightly embarassed to actually meet him. Judging from the quick exit of his guest after the deed(s) were done, I'm assuming that this is not a regular girlfriend, and I'm hoping for my sake, that he doesn't "get lucky" too often. For how do you (1) let someone know that you can hear them, and (2) ask them to adjust their squeaky bed? I know we're all grown, but still....

One of my co-workers called my new spot, Melrose Place. She might be more correct than she thinks.

Is this part of getting old..er?

First I find out that I can't flex my feet or point my toes without catching a cramp. Oh brother.

Now I have a stiff clavical (muscle in-between my neck and shoulder) muscle that all of a sudden occurred after leaning in the doorway, talking to Zee's preschool teacher this morning. It went away (after I took two Advil and did a million shoulder rolls) and now it's back. What da hell?

Of course, I'm convinced that it's meningitis. But I won't tell anyone that. (I did a symptom checker, and though I have none of the other symptoms, what else could it be?)

So I'm Not "The Fun One"

I'm not the fun parent. Shock resonates on my little guy's face when I agree to take part in a sword fight, or a light saber duel, or a wrestling match on the floor. Don't get me wrong. We have fun. It's just typically more mentally stimulating. Uno, coloring, a rousing game of Chutes & Ladders -- that's more my cup of tea. Sometimes it bothers me, and I'll try to be more of the 5 year old boy brand of fun -- but it's so tiring. Alas. *places back of hand against forehead*

The other day, however, I got the confirmation that, as parents, we each have a role. "What's your favorite thing about school," I asked Zee. "When Ms. B-- gives us work[sheets]." He's loving the hidden pictures right about now. (Boy after my own heart.) Continuing that line of questioning, I asked, "What's your favorite thing at your dad's house?" "Playing my Nintendo, going swimming and going to the lake."

Enjoying the free flow of information, I ask one more question, "And what's your favorite thing at Mommy's house?"

"Hugs."

"Hugs?" I repeat, for clarification.

"Yes, hugs." He repeats matter o'factly.

The questioning stops. I am stunned and humbled. Such a simple thing. I want to thank him, but it would make no sense to him, so I thank him silently. Hugs.

I'm not the fun one. And that's okay.

Um, how 'bout no?

Since I don't know how to go to bed, I'm up clicking on random things on the web. Ran across an article on MSN regarding best pets by zodiac sign. For fun, I thought I'd check out mine:

Scorpio
Intense and inquisitive, Scorpios are fascinated by the darker side of life and often prefer quiet companionship from a pet. Spiders are a pet sure to thrill. Since a spider is a relatively low-maintenance pet, a Scorpio owner can spend hours enthralled watching the interesting existence of a spider. Spiders require little to no socialization, which suits typically introverted Scorpio just fine. A sensual spider housed in a stimulating terrarium will provide a striking scene in a Scorpio's life.

da hell?! Who am I? Elvira or somedamnbody?

Breakfast Disappointment

I just came back from Corner Bakery with my To Go breakfast order. I got the Anaheim Scrambler.

Here is how they describe it:
